We get a lot of questions from young Christian men and women who are “not yet married.” Their season of life awakens many desires and hopes, uncertainties and insecurities, and tricky pastoral questions.

Trust me, I am eventually going to focus on the men’s role in a dating relationship, but in this post I’m going to address the women.

Before I tackle this question I have to say that I chose this particular question to represent a bigger issue.

If he can't pinpoint the time of his conversion, or at least the time frame in which it occurred, then it might not have ever happened. Is he counting on his good deeds, religious rituals, and winning smile to get to heaven, or does he describe coming to the point of recognizing his sinfulness, turning from his own path in life, and receiving Christ as his forgiver and leader?

He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy, says Titus 3:5. When he talks about the future, is there room for God? Does he talk about seeking God's direction for his life?

To help find the right questions, we called on three not-yet-married friends who gave some time to thinking about the challenges faced by singles: Lore Ferguson, Paul Maxwell, and the recently engaged Marshall Segal.

Why: Helps you find out the person's preferences and also helps you establish if the person has any free time or if they're a workaholic.
